Portaiture
Application
Throughout its whole history, portraiture photographers' main intentions with their work are to capture the character and their expression. For example, an artist called Diane Arbus used her portraiture to mainly show emotions of the subject, rather than just sticking to family photographs. Portraiture has existed pretty much ever since the day the camera has been here. In the middle of the 19th century, it was relatively cheap to get a daguerreotype portrait taken. This is mainly what raised its popularity throughout the years.
